The Heidelberg Fund

The Heidelberg Fund is an annual organized effort to obtain unrestricted gifts during the university’s fiscal year, which runs from July 1 - June 30. When you make an unrestricted gift, you enable us to assign your gift to areas where it is needed most. This flexibility gives us the opportunity to support all areas of the university from students, to faculty, and programs across the board.

It is important to us that you align your gift to what matters most to you. We encourage you to make your gift to one of these four designated areas:

Student Callers

Every year, a dedicated team of Student Princes call alumni, parents and friends of the university to thank them for their generosity, let them know what’s new on campus and ask for their continued support for The Heidelberg Fund. You can use this conversation to make a pledge or gift or to find out more about giving options.

Double the Impact

Many alumni and friends work for companies that match employee contributions - some dollar-for-dollar or even $2 for every $1 given. Your gift to The Heidelberg Fund may be significantly increased when a company matching gift form is included. Gifts from spouses or retired employees also may be matched. To make a match, please include a form from your company's human resources office with your gift.

Capital Projects

Capital gifts provide support for the university's infrastructure. These investments in Heidelberg provide facilities which are commensurate to the excellent liberal arts education for which we are known, and are fundamental for the long-term sustainability of the university as a top-tier liberal arts school.

Ongoing Capital Projects

A Student & Community Welcome Center for the Office of Admission that also would include a “town & gown” bookstore and space for student leadership initiatives. This project will tie the campus more closely to a surging revitalization effort in downtown Tiffin.

Student Emergency Support Fund

For students, unforeseen expenses can be a make-or-break factor in determining whether they’re able to stay in school. This fund was established to help students who are faced with unanticipated financial obstacles.

Endowed Scholarships

Create a scholarship in honor of a favorite professor or a family member, or as a memorial tribute to a special person in your life. Support a current area of need or create your own unique fund to support a cause of special importance to you.

“H” Association

The Alumni Varsity “H” Association was established to improve the quality of Heidelberg athletics by involving alumni and friends in the athletic program through involvement and funding special projects.

Reunion Giving

A coordinated effort in 50th Anniversary Reunion class Giving has produced some outstanding gifts for Heidelberg. A shift in philosophy -- a focus on participation and following an individual’s philanthropic passion and away from a designated campus project -- has been huge. Over the past five years, under a the new approach and some incredibly effective alumni volunteers, Reunion Class Giving has surpassed $13 million.

The culmination of Reunion Class Giving comes at Alumni Weekend, when reunion gift committee members present a “big check” to Heidelberg, representing their cumulative giving in honor of the 50th anniversary of their graduation.

There are many ways to support Heidelberg besides writing a check. With a little planning, you can include a gift to us within your overall estate or financial plans that preserves our educational mission and provides you with tax benefits in return.
